Here are some of our frequently asked questions… If your query isn’t answered here then just drop us a line and we’ll do all we can to help.
1. What do I do if I don't have a video camera?
You don’t have to go out and buy an expensive video camera. There are lots of relatively cheap models available. Most digital photo cameras also have a video feature that allows you to film short clips. A lot of mobile phones these days already have a video capture function. Check to see if yours has. Or, you can even take a series of still photographs using your digital still camera and create your own video slide show. Alternatively, why not ask a relative or friend? The chances are you may already know someone who could lend you a camera, or even help you to make your video.
2. What sort of device should I use?
A better quality camera will give you better results. However, this doesn’t matter so much as most camcorders and even mobile phones are good enough to use on the Internet. Remember that most people advertise, whether on the Web or in a local newspaper, tend to use text and maybe one or two photos. The Speedviewing motto is, “If a picture is worth a thousand words then video says it all!” That’s what Speedviewing is all about… to enable you to advertise in a much more dynamic and effective way. Don’t just describe what you have to offer – Show people! Let them get a better all round picture with video. Give them a tour.
3. How do I transfer my video from the camera to the computer?
You can get your videos off your digital camera, camcorder or mobile phone just as you would if you were downloading photographs. Your device should already have the necessary cables (such as a USB or Firewire lead) or memory card to do this. Or if you have a camera that records directly onto DVD then you can just insert the disk into your computer and make a copy.
Once you’ve downloaded your video files to your computer hard drive you’re ready to edit and upload your video to Speedviewing.
How do I edit my video?
Depending on the type of device you use, some cameras come complete with software that allows you to download and edit clips. If you’re an Apple Mac user then you may already have iMovie, or if you use PC (running XP or Vista) then you can use Windows Movie Maker. Alternatively there are lots of different types of editing applications available on the Web.
4. How do I transfer video from a mobile phone?
